Asian Greens Grow Tray 4×2 Inch PVC. The 4 by 2 inch section was sized for Asian greens rather than head lettuce: pak choi, mizuna and tatsoi sit upright in a narrow channel without the crown pressing the lid. At 100 by 50 millimetres the tray still carries enough film for a full root mat.

Greenhouses cropping pak choi, mizuna and tatsoi on short cycles for wholesale markets.
Lay the trays on the bench, set the fall toward the spout, then plant one plug every 150 to 200 millimetres. Feed enters at the high end and leaves at the cap.
Because the channel is narrow, a house can run more rows across the same span than with a wide bed. Also, each row is still easy to reach from the aisle. You can read more about the background of this method on Lettuce.
